Positioned on the border of China Town and Leicester Square is Waxy O’Connors, a part Irish, part English pub serving up some serious pub grub and while offering a proper pint of Guinness. Even though Waxy’s is in the middle of a tourist destination, they are worlds apart.

The Vibe:

Waxy O’Connors feels like you are having a pint in someones house rather than a pub, the vibe is extremely laid back yet classy. The pub features a tree sprouting up through the middle of the bar, a stone fireplace, an upper level and lower level bar and high end hand crafted wood decor.

What To Get:

When you are in a pub in the UK there is only one thing to go for – a proper pint. Every time we visit Waxy’s I always go for a fresh pint of Guinness as they serve up some of the best of this black nectar. They also have a great selection of Irish Whisky and Gin. The kitchen at Waxy’s serves up traditional English Pub food and I found it to be one of the best meat pies I’ve had in London.

The Staff:

Friendly, welcoming and charming! Everyone at Waxy’s makes you feel at home, they really go out of the way here to create a great drinking experience.

Final Thoughts:

Fresh Pints, cheap prices for Central London and great atmosphere make Waxy’s a great find in the middle of a busy tourist area. Since the tourist are too busy doing what tourist do you’ll find that locals frequent this quaint watering hole.
