Bally Hoo Isla Mujeres
Hidden away behind a Pemex Gas Station, is a quaint shack on the beach called Bally-Hoo. Serving up some insane fish tacos, ice cold cervezas and great mixed drinks – Bally-Hoo makes the top of the list for a great dive on Isla Mujeres.
The Vibe:
As you walk along the deck leading towards the docks, a cool ocean breeze brushes your face, as if the ocean was welcoming you to paradise. Once you step foot into Bally Hoo you immediately start to relax as you feel every drop of your normal life melt away in the summer heat. The bar keep asks if you’d like a cold beer and it hits you…welcome to paradise.
What To Get:
Bally Hoo, has some great food. I recommend the fish tacos (fried), they are out of this world. The ceviche here is fresh as well, if you are adventures go for the Pulpo y Caracol (octopus and conch) it was some of the best I’ve had on the island. The beer is ice cold and cheap here, I also had a few.. okay maybe a lot of Cuba Libres (rum & coke). You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
The Staff:
The Bally Hoo staff were very friendly. I speak Spanish but it didn’t matter here because they all speak English quite well. Everyone we met from the bartender to the kitchen staff was smiling and happy to help.

Final Thoughts:
From the moment you walk in to the time of your departure, Bally-Hoo makes sure you have a great time. The friendly staff, cool ocean breeze and kick ass drinks are what makes Bally-Hoo a truly amazing tropical dive bar. I’ll be returning soon, hungry for fish tacos and thirsty for a good time.
